Call for Research Proposals

The Children's Heart Foundation is proud to be the nation's premier organization dedicated to funding the most promising congenital heart defect research. Since its inception, the foundation has funded nearly $20 million of CHD research and scientific collaborations.

The Children’s Heart Foundation's research portfolio consists of four key initiates:

  • Independent Research Awards
  • Collaborative Research with the American Heart Association
  • American Academy of Pediatrics' Pediatric Cardiology Research Fellowship Award
  • Funding of Cardiac Networks United

The Foundation’s ultimate goal is to fund the most promising research that will advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects (CHDs). Our primary focus is on funding research in patients born with structural congenital heart disease. We also support research in fetuses/patients with congenital complete heart block, and investigations focused on the evaluation and treatment of cardiomyopathy and arrhythmias in patients with underlying CHD, and research on pediatric heart transplantation.

Our 2025 research funding cycle opens April 11, 2025.
