President: Julie LeGassick
Julie holds a bachelors of arts in Geology and, prior to 2009, Julie worked as a geologist for an environmental consulting firm. She specialized in historical research to pinpoint the presence of soil and groundwater contamination on commercial properties. She is currently staying home to take care of her three daughters. After the successful correction of her oldest daughter’s transposed great arteries, Julie hopes to help other families enjoy the happiness that is a healthy child. When not chasing her children, Julie enjoys playing volleyball, yoga, running, and biking.
Vice President: Kelly Aicher
Kelly Aicher is a senior manager with The Bike Gallery and has been at the helm of the Lake Oswego Location since its opening in 1997. Kelly is a graduate of Whitman College, a former Firefighter and EMT and a has spent 25 years in the bicycle business including a position with Trek Bicycle that allowed him to visit 46 states during his career. He is an adult survivor of a Congenital Heart Defect, Tetralogy Of Fallot, for which he had corrective surgery in Portland in 1972. Kelly is a very active member and has served on the board of the Downtown Lake Oswego Rotary Club where he has been honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. In his free time, Kelly is an avid Oenophile, Audiophile and enjoys cycling, skiing, music and traveling with his wife Nicky and their 2 Beagles. He fulfilled a goal of running the Big Sur Marathon in 2007. Kelly’s passion for wine, cycling and the Children’s Heart foundation has led to the Wine Ride series that partners with some of the best wineries in Oregon in order to raise funds for CHF.
Treasurer and Co-Founder: Vincent P. Price
Vince Price is CFO of The Regence Group. Prior to this he was co-Owner of Price & Price Consulting where his focus was on financial management for startup and existing businesses. Prior to forming his own company he was the Group Controller at Intel Corporation where he worked for 15 years. Vince also worked with a Central Oregon non-profit agency, Saving Grace, which provides comprehensive family violence and sexual assault services and promotes the value of living life free from violence.
Secretary: Jeff LeGassick
Jeff has spent the last 17 years working in various capacities at Intel, most recently helping to bring new products to market. Raising a daughter with a corrected congenital heart defect, Jeff has seen firsthand the positive impact research can have on the lives of children and their families. He is excited to help raise awareness of Congenital Heart Defects and promote research to help affected children and their families live happy fulfilling lives.
Board Member and Past President: Sandra K. Morris
Sandra Morris is a co-Founder and CEO of CafeGive, an innovative new web company that enables people to earn for non-profit organizations while shopping on-line. Morris is a technology management veteran with over twenty years of product development, marketing and general management experience. During an eighteen year career at Intel, she was involved in the development of various multimedia products, ran intel.com and spearheaded the billion dollar B2B effort at Intel. Morris shared the CIO role at Intel for four years. Prior to founding CafeGive, she spent over 2 years as GM and CEO of Kodak Gallery driving this consumer e-commerce business. Outside of work Sandra’s passion is her family and children’s causes, and going on long walks with her retriever mix puppy.
Board Member and Past President: Heather Helmy
Heather Helmy is a Registered Dietitian who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. In addition to her work with the Children’s Heart Foundation, Heather has worked as a clinical Dietitian and remains actively involved in the areas of wellness and nutrition education. As a parent of a child born with complex congenital heart disease, Heather is all too aware of the need to fund the most promising research and create awareness about CHD, and she hopes that all children born with congenital heart defects will have a bright and joyful future.
Board Member: Jason Lines PA-C
Jason is a physician assistant who has been working in congenital heart surgery at Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital for the past 10 years. He had the privilege of working with and learning from Dr. Albert Starr for many of those years. In his free time Jason enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Board Member, Past President and Co-Founder: Aimee R. Mooney
Aimee Mooney holds a Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology. She has practiced over 16 years in the field of Neurological Rehabilitation, specializing in the recovery from Traumatic Brain Injury. In addition to clinical work, she has participated in research involving the impact of Patient Advocacy on long-term outcomes.
Her experience in the medical field paired with work in patient advocacy have been extremely helpful in helping her to cope with the challenges of Finn’s complex condition. Aimee also co-formed a local support network called “Northwest Families with Heart”. The mission of this group is to provide families with written, on-line and one-on-one support as they navigate the very complicated journey of life with a congenital heart defect.
Board Member and Co-Founder: Joseph P. Mooney
Joe Mooney is owner of Mooney Construction, a general contractor for new construction and remodels in Portland, Oregon. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is an active and passionate father of his two children, Brogan and Finn. When not designing and building sets for LionHeart or PULSE, Joe can be found coaching T-ball.
Board Member and Co-Founder: Laurie L. Price
Laurie Price is Co-Founder of CafeGive, Inc, a cause marketing social media company focused on helping companies and organizations do their good in the world. CafeGive brings together her prior work as a consultant focused on business planning and operations for nonprofit and for profit companies and years of work at Intel Corporation where she was the Director of e-Business Operations. Her volunteer focus is on improving the lives of children that enter this life with disadvantages, either physical or environmental. In addition to serving on the board of The Children’s Heart Foundation-Oregon Chapter, she served two terms as board chairperson for MountainStar Family Relief Nursery. When not working, you can find Laurie playing four year old games with her daughter, jogging, practicing yoga and reading yet another self-help book!
Board Member: Jane Raymond
Jane Raymond is the owner and designer for Style Sister Studio Handbags. Her bachelor of science degree in design has given her a wide range of art media exposure. Jane’s design experience has helped create the theme and feel of our events and she is one of the founding mother’s of Lionheart in Laurelhurst. One of Jane’s passions is creating ways young children can participate in our community events. You can find Jane, her four children, and any number of Junior Board Members, on her front porch creating new, wonderful items for the Children’s Heart Foundation.
Board Member: Mari Ricker
Mari Ricker MD is a Family Physician who practices in Milwaukie, Oregon and is a faculty member at the Providence Milwaukie Hospital Family Medicine Residency. Mari is the parent of a child born with congenital heart disease. She is dedicated to increasing awareness about CHD, promoting research for congenital heart disease, and providing support for families of children with CHD.
Board Member: Nancy Mitchell
Nancy Mitchell is a high school science teacher in the North Clackamas School District. She is also the parent of a daughter born with congenital heart disease. Nancy grew up in Arizona, received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, her master’s degrees from Portland State University, and calls Portland her home. In her free time, if she’s not playing or reading books to her daughter, she is probably plotting her next house project, relaxing with her husband and two dogs, or reading a book of her choice.
Nancy is dedicated to increasing community awareness of congenital heart disease while promoting fundraising opportunities and research for CHD.
Board Member: Thomas Morrissey, MD
Tom left his practice as a Thoracic Surgeon and is currently a Vice President in Quality at Edwards Lifesciences, a global medical device manufacturer based in Irvine, CA. He is a native of Massachusetts and a graduate of OHSU School of Medicine. He is the parent of a child born with congenital heart disease and is dedicated to increasing awareness about CHD and promoting research for congenital heart disease.
Aimee R. Mooney & Joseph P. Mooney
Aimee and Joe Mooney are the parents of Finnigan Mooney. Finn was born with a severe congenital heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Through this experience they became aware of the prevalence of congenital heart defects (CHD) and the challenges associated with treatment. They also became aware of the considerable gap that exists between the occurrence of the condition and the financial support dedicated towards research of the condition. Therefore, they saw a significant need for development of a foundation whose primary mission is to fund research for congenital heart defects. This is the reason they started The Children’s Heart Foundation-Oregon Chapter
